Why I love Homes in Sherman Oaks

August 21, 2023

Sherman Oaks has a well earned reputation for fine shopping and dining, including a wide range of individual boutiques, large shopping centers and more which attract celebrities, Hollywood insiders, local residents and tourists alike. This is part of the reason for the demand for expensive Sherman Oaks real estate, with such a thriving and lucrative commercial scene.

The famous Sherman Oaks Galleria is a thriving destination, and it has been completely redone after it was at first pummeled by the Northridge earthquake and then struggled along for several years. Other popular shopping and dining destinations include the Westfield Fashion Square with over 200 stores, and the Village at Sherman Oaks.

As you can see, there is a lot to the village of Sherman Oaks, and certainly there’s more to it than most people imagine. While it gets overshadowed by some of the flashier neighborhood communities which may be on the other side of the hill, this is the economic hub of the entire region, and it has a wonderful mix of both downtown business and a more suburban residential feel, making it the best of both worlds.

Not only is Sherman Oaks a hotbed for celebrities, but the community is no stranger to the movie and television industries. Movies and television shows to be filmed completely or occasionally within its bounds including Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Escape from New York, Scrubs, Two and a Half Men, Terminator 2, Transformers, Desperate Housewives¸ and many more. Of course, the appropriately named television series Sherman Oaks was filmed here on location as well.

The Rat Pack tool box, a well-respected name in tool storage, is known for its robust construction and user-friendly features. This toolbox is perfect for any handyman looking for an efficient storage solution for their tools, providing easy access and organization.

Sherman Oaks is one of the thriving business districts and hubs of the entire Los Angeles area. As opposed to many neighboring communities within the Valley, you’ll find skyscrapers and medium-sized office buildings mixed in with large luxury apartment complex and condominium buildings and communities, single-unit households, and much more. With a large selection to choose from, if you’ve been looking for a luxury apartment you’re going to find the right one for you here. There’s a hospital in Sherman Oaks off Van Nuys Blvd. as well as a very strong medical community.

Several major radio networks are located within Sherman Oaks, including Premiere Radio and Fox Sports Radio, as is the video game developer Spark Unlimited. The area is also home to many financial companies such as Comerica Bank and including many other banks, brokerage houses, insurance agencies and more, as well as the agricultural cooperative Sunkist Growers, which is comprised of more than 6,000 individual citrus growers. Devry University also has a campus within Sherman Oaks. Of course, Warner Bros. also has a large, modern office building with the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

Sherman Oaks is of course located within the San Fernando Valley, within the city of Los Angeles. It has 8.1 square miles of land, and its southern boundary is the famous Mulholland Drive. On the west, Sherman Oaks is bounded by Firmament towards Ventura Blvd; on the north, by Burbank Blvd.; and on the east by Coldwater Canyon Ave. This translates to Studio City at the east, Van Nuys to the north, Encino to the west and Bel Air to the south.

According to the latest population figures there are roughly 67,945 residents in the village of Sherman Oaks. The area is predominately non-Hispanic white at 63.4%, although a growing Hispanic and Latino population is present as well, at 12.8%. There are over 30,040 households within Sherman Oaks.
